The History

A Life Sciences Consortium (LSC) Task Force was commissioned during the fourth annual meeting of the CEO Roundtable on Cancer, in June 2003. The Task Force was asked to explore the creation of a forum to enhance and speed cancer drug discovery and early drug development, thereby bringing improved therapies to cancer patients … faster. The LSC was charged with exploring the formation of a consortium that would unite the research-intensive pharmaceutical and biotech industry with each other, as well as with the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), and academic centers of excellence.

The overarching goal of the Life Sciences Consortium is to enable Member companies to work together to remove roadblocks and to find new ways to accelerate discovery and development of new therapies for all cancer patients.
